INTRODUCTION TO THE ASSOCIATION
Security Chiefs of downtown properties formed the Las Vegas Security Chiefs Association in 1987; their mission was to promote security professionalism and enhance communications between each other and law enforcement agencies within the community. Now, the mission remains the same. However, the Association has expanded to include hotel/casino properties from throughout the Southern Nevada area and communities with more than eighty active members. Several additional membership supporters represent Law Enforcement and Public Service Agencies throughout the Cities, Clark County , State of Nevada , and the Federal Government.
The combined total of proprietary security officers represented by the Chiefs Association is over seven thousand, which is the major contributing factor to our properties being some of the safest tourist destinations in the world. With the continuing support of Sheriff Doug Gillespie, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, and all of our public and law enforcement supporting agencies, we have established a relationship, which is a working model for tourist communities across the country.
While communication between organizations is critical to our ever-growing industry, promoting a professional security image for all properties is an equally critical component. By sponsoring professional development classes, seminars and conferences, the Association continues to keep its member’s properties in the forefront of all current issues.
The Association sponsors a Security Professional of the month program where Security Officers from member properties are honored for outstanding contributions to their profession. It is with great pride that plaques are awarded to officers for exemplary accomplishments.
Community support is a vital component of the Association. Through donations for team sponsorship, scholarships, education and training, the Las Vegas Security Chiefs Association continually strives to give back to the community.
On behalf of the Executive Board, we would like to thank all of our members for their ongoing support and we look forward to more accomplishments.
